사물은 어떻게 보는가에 따라 전혀 다르게 느껴진다. 일상에서 익숙하게 볼 수 있는 사물도 정면, 측면, 윗면, 아래면에서 보면 그 각도에 따라 완전히 다르게 느껴지기도 한다. 또 어떠한 대상이든 자세히 관찰하고 들여다보면 보이지 않는 부분까지 추측해 낼 수 있고, 보지 못했던 것을 보기도 하고, 처음 상상했던 것과는 완전히 다른 형태와 구조를 찾아내기도 한다. 사물의 본질적인 의미를 알아가기 위해서는 시간을 들여 의지를 가지고 바라 보아야 한다. 그렇지 않으면 그 안의 숨어있는 의미를 온전히 알아 차리기 힘들다. 이렇게 어떤 대상을 오래 바라보면서 생각하면 그 일부가 나의 기억과 몸에 스며들어 그 대상이 더 특별해지는 경험을 하게 된다. 두 개의 브로치 작업은 위에서 내려다보면 단순한 원형과 사각형의 납작한 판형이 보이지만 몸을 숙여 옆에서 바라보면 그 안에 숨어있는 형태를 찾을 수 있다. 이렇듯 조금은 수고스러운 감상을 마다하지 않는다면 작품 안에 숨어있는 의도를 찾아가는 기쁨을 느끼게 될 것이다.
Feelings can be change depending on the perspective from which you observe. Similarly, familiar items in everyday life can also appear completely different depending on the angle when viewed from the front, side, top, or bottom. If you observe and look closely at any object, you can imagine the invisible part, see what you haven't seen previously, and find a completely different shape and structure from what you first observed. In order to find out the essential meaning of things, you should take time to look at them with focus and intent. Otherwise, it is difficult to fully understand the hidden meaning in it. If you look at an object for a prolonged period and embrace these feelings, they will permeate through your mind and body and the object becomes more special. Viewing Two Brooches from above will show a simple round and square flat plate, but if when viewed from the side, you can reveal the shape hidden within. By allowing your mind to appreciate different perspectives, you will feel the true joy of finding the hidden intent in the work.
