Symmetry in Bloom 전시는 제가 2018년부터 이어온 Breath Series의 연속이자 조형적 탐구의 결과입니다. 숨은 저에게 단순한 생리적 행위가 아니라, 생명의 존재 그 자체를 의미합니다. 특히, 폐와 심장, 기관지 같은 신체 기관은 숨의 흐름을 물리적으로 형상화 할 수 있는 강력한 조형적 언어가 되어주었습니다. 이전의 작업들이 숨의 단일한 흐름과 내면의 감각을 표현했다면, 이번 시리즈에서는 그 숨의 덩어리들이 군집을 이루고, 마주하고, 균형을 이루는 하나의 ‘조화로운 생명 구조’ 로 발전했습니다. 꽃이 피어나듯, 혹은 유전자 구조처럼 유기적으로 마주 선 형태들은 좌우 대칭을 이루며 대화하듯 존재합니다. 그 유려한 곡선들과 풍성한 볼륨은 각기 다른 생명체의 형상 같기도 하고, 숨을 머금은 작은 우주 같기도 합니다. - 작가노트 중
Symmetry in Bloom continues my Breath Series, which I have pursued since 2018 as a sculptural investigation into the essence of life. For me, breath is not simply a biological function—it is the very existence of life itself. Organs such as the lungs, heart, and bronchial tubes have served as powerful sculptural metaphors, enabling me to give form to the flow of breath. Whereas my earlier works focused on the singular flow of breath and its internal sensations, this new series explores how masses of breath converge, face one another, and evolve into harmonious life structures. These organically mirrored forms stand in dialogue, like blooming flowers or genetic blueprints. Their elegant curves and voluminous bodies suggest the shapes of various life forms or perhaps tiny universes filled with breath. - from the artist's notes
